Biddle Hooks (Short)

Biddle Hooks (Short – 225mm/9 inches approx).

2 x hooks per set.

Interchangeable Roof Thatching Biddle hooks. Can be used to swap out when required.

The long hooks (300mm/12 inches long approx) supplied on our biddles are great for traditional work and new work at min 350mm but are often too long for repair work on well worn thatch (10 inches/250mm depth) which has been laid on battened roofs.

When the thatch has worn down a few inches the long hooks can penetrate to the battens, and beyond.

Problem solved – use the short hooks. Just two nuts per hook to swap them out.

When you purchase a biddle do consider purchasing the extra hooks for more versatility.

Repair work is essential for extending the life of thatched roofs. If the sway is well buried when initially thatched there is potential for an extended lifespan. The right tools and equipment make everything easier.
